Broad bolts can be created by attaching feathers to the unfinished bolts at level 55 Fletching if you have unlocked the "Broader fletching" ability for 300 Slayer reward points. The bolts require level 55 Slayer and 61 Ranged to equip. They can be fired only by OSRS rune crossbow, dragon hunter crossbow, dragon crossbow, or Armadyl crossbow.

As broad bolts are as strong as adamant bolts but are much cheaper, it’s a good choice to use them for training and general ranging.

Use broad bolts for OSRS amethyst broad bolts

If you have reached level 76 Fletching and unlocked "Broader fletching", you can add amethyst bolt tips to ordinary broad bolts to create OSRS amethyst broad bolts. Amethyst broad bolts require a Slayer level of at least 65 and a Ranged level of at least 61 to equip. They can be fired only by the rune crossbow, dragon hunter crossbow, dragon crossbow, or Armadyl crossbows.

With a Ranged Strength bonus of +115, amethyst broad bolts are the equivalent of runite bolts in combat. Amethyst broad bolts can be a superior alternative to their regular and arrow equivalents for the purpose of slaying Turoth and Kurasks using ranged.
