We reviewed Path of Exile in 2013. It's changed Fortnite Materials significantly since then, so much so that we decided to review it again. Our original review may still be found here. For more about the reason why we've chosen to re-review certain matches, go here.
When you clean up on the shores of Wraeclast in Path of Exile's opening minutes, you are a pitiful sight, entirely dropped and clad only in tattered rags. Survival means hitting drifting, bloated cadavers with driftwood until they explode. Take some time to appreciate the simplicity.
Path of Exile has ever attempted to stand apart from other contemporary ARPGs using its lore-soaked setting and daunting passive power shrub doing a lot of the heavy lifting. It is blessed with a exceptional identity--one that is built on experimentation and continuous development.
But Path of Exile is still filled with all manner of surprises.Only once you feel like you may be accomplished with it, Path of Exile transforms, beckoning one to make the ascent over and over. This is not an RPG that is comfortable with sitting still for long intervals. There is always a boss to killa brand new system to wrap around your head, or a weapon which you absolutely must have to your new character build notion.
It can be a great deal to take in, but the heart of Path of Exile stays its character progression--that journey from nobody to cosmic superhero--along with the huge passive skill tree that represents that growth. It is a complicated web of passive skills and stats that buff your Exile with additional fortnite traps dexterity, intelligence, weapon proficiencies, spell damage and countless different modifiers, broad and situational.
