Playground equipment in Brownsville’s Founder Park will soon often be disassembled and stored at the city’s water plant until it may be put back together farther from the crumbling banks of the Calaplooia River, city councilors on their meeting this week.

The city has been battling the Calapooia for more than a decade.

In 2011, the city had to be able to tear down restrooms all around health were too near to the eroding riverbank and has been swept into the Calapooia.

The erosion has reached the point the place that the city has to switch the playground equipment and also face losing it.

City Manager Scott McDowell stated Public Works Director Karl Frink includes secured the tools required to take the playground tools apart.

McDowell said on the council's Tuesday meeting that this equipment will be transferred onto what the group calls the “prairie, ” a big flat, grassy area east on the playground’s current location.
