It has been 15 years since Maplestory initially launched in Maple M Mesos Korea, along with the sequel has formally launched in the West with the localized version of MapleStory 2--the game was reside in Korea because 2015. In that moment, its long-time MMORPG franchise has been accommodated by Nexon with an overhauled economy and 3D gameplay. We were able to speak with Nexon America president Jungsoo Lee and reside games department manager Hyun Joo Kim concerning the transition and what it's like to bring the sequel westward. The interview has been edited for clarity and readability.

Did you strategy MapleStory 2 together with the audience in mind, or was the approach to go now around? I wouldn't say we have a target audience for MapleStory 2. Of course, we're likely to reach out to most of the older MapleStory lovers, but since [the] match has been significantly grown from all of this content that is different, a great deal of players actually left. They feel like it is a MapleStory. Our strategy has been'let us examine the market' to find out what kind of players really.

I think also MapleStory 2 offers a vast array of content. You can do practically anything in this game, if you're into home, customization, etc.. MapleStory [original] clearly had it, but we now offer more content. You can make your own costumes, make your own dungeons, which we also showcase community events.

There are all those free-to-play games out there now, and the genre has evolved since the first MapleStory. What kind of modernizations are you incorporated into MapleStory 2?

Lee: Well, it's 3D, a few UGC [user-generated content] attributes, therefore we haven't supposed to create a game sandbox, but we do have similar sort of articles integrated into the game. So there'll be something. Thus, we are trying to help content creators craft their own MapleStory experience with all of buy Maplestory M Mesos the game resources. That is a small part of it, and home is something similar to should you enjoy building stuff.
