Nicely put. The OG client is a thing. Not to OSRS gold players that play with 12 hours a day but logging in for the first time in 15 decades. Exactly, and those time in 15year RuneScape players are those Jagex needs to hook for RuneScape to grow. Should they choose to switch to something like RL then it is a personal choice. OSRS has to feel familiar to bring back anyone. Completely disagree. You are suggesting they should boost their CAC to focus purely on bringing in new RuneScape players when people might not be the increase to their profit. I won't make a claim because I haven't seen their fiscal numbers and statistics but I'd really like to see if the"sweaty" gamers burning through bonds and/or membership for multiple accounts (main, ironman, HCIM, Leagues, etc.) don't really out weigh their earnings derived from fresh RuneScape players.
You sound like someone who'd only be interested in lining up investors pockets and the next few years gains instead of growing RuneScape for everyone. I am responding to a discussion being had about OSRS and Jagex as a organization. If you feel don't care about gain you are being naive.
Give a"legacy" client and a"upgraded" customer, possibly? Simply spit balling here, I agree with most of your points, however if Jagex desired to make RL an official client they could still offer the old client (or at least a skin of it). That would help to ensure the nostalgia or whatever else it is that you enjoy about the vanilla customer can be obtained while also giving fresh RuneScape players access to your customer with additional utility, without needing to worry about the dubious character of 3rd party clients in RuneScape. I agree that using options is best. It comes down to the cash and maintaining two customers is cash spent for money returned, and likely is not worth the expense/headache. There's a reason one customer is only offered by most companies with games than Jagex, and if they offer a legacy client, it's only supported for a limited amount of time.
Purchasing something out since it's better is something cheap RS gold that happens all the time. Google buys startups that are new all the time. If a person made something better for your game making it like if it had been your virtue and buying but is good. Google has infinity funds than Jagex. Additionally, Google purchases until their own legs grow, start-ups to swallow them and it competes in certain facility using a Google service. In the software space, first to market is really important, and when the applications doesn't be scored by Google, Facebook will and then potentially use it in order to compete against Google. Microsoft used to do the same thing.
